Whenever you hear the words Automate & Twitter in the same sentence you might automatically think spam however let me be clear that this post has nothing to do with spamming Twitter. Instead we’re going to look at a few tools that can help you automate the ways that you currently use Twitter & free up time to spend on…facebook? (joking).
TweetLater

In a nutshell Tweetlater can help you schedule Tweets out over a period of time.
Being an Australian I find TweetLater extremely useful, mainly because half the time when I’m tweeting most of the USA is asleep (which isn’t so useful). TweetLater can help me out here by allowing the tweets I would normally send all bunched together be spread out over a period of time. Thus I can set my tweets to go out at what I’d consider the peak time.
There’s other potential uses for TweetLater automation which include:
- Scheduling Tweets if you head away for a few days
- Automation of company announcements
- Send Welcome messages to new followers, this can lead to direct actions on your blog or site (feed subscribes or signups)
Twollow

Twollow allows you to automatically follow users on twitter based on a given criteria. The most common usage is following people who tweet a particular keyword that you’re interested in.
This allows you to build relevant contacts on Auto Pilot, you can then cull back the uninteresting users when you next login.
Tweetable
Tweetable is a plugin for Wordpress that automatically tweets new posts as soon as you hit publish in Wordpress. Useful if you tweet your own blog posts quite a lot.
TweetManager aka Twautor

TweetManager allows for complete Twitter Automation. It combines the features of Twollow, Tweetable & Tweetlater into one interface, it also allows you to manage multiple accounts at once. TweetManager is currently in Private Beta.
