I WORK AT THE HOME DEPOT. CORPORATE HAS JUST CHANGED THE RETURNS POLICY FOR ALL STORES. THERE IS NOW NO TIME LIMIT AND NO QUESTIONS ASKED WITH OR WITHOUT A RECEIPT AS LONG AS THE UPC CODE IS IN THE SYSTEM. GOOD FOR CUSTOMERS, TERRIBLE FOR STOCK HOLDERS AND ASSOCIATES.

    Sephora's not on the list.

Gap has the WORST return policy. Don't ever shop there. Their return policy is 30 days. After the 30 days, even if you still have your reciept and the item still has tags, they will give you the LOWEST selling price. They give you a store credit that you don't get right away but they mail it out after 2 weeks. They completly rip off their customers and after I get rid of my stupid $100 credit, I will never shop there again and will tell my family and friends to do the same. There is no way they should be cheating people out of the full price they paid for an item because they state it in the fine print at the bottom of a reciept. The only thing that stinks more than their return policy is their corporate customer service. I called to submit my feedback and hopefully get my money back on my return and I spoke to the rudest customer service rep on the phone. BTW... I am always nice because I worked sales for macys for years and I was always more willing to help out the nice customers than the rude ones. The rep told me that there was nothing she could do about it, so I asked to speak to her supervisor. She told me "This is not a supervisor issue." Enough said. I will never shop there again and I encourage everyone else to do the same.

Love the article also, but also have to agree that Target and Toys R Us definitely have one of the worst return policies. I don't even shop at either anymore for that reason only. Toys R Us wouldn't even let me do an even exchange in-store without my receipt when I was sent the wrong color of something I had ordered online.

Express also is great about returns. I've returned/exchanged jeans there that have been worn for quite a few months but have wear and tear, and they have exchanged them for a new pair no problem. Employees are great there, polite and don't hassle you about your return. I didn't even have a receipt!

Love this article but disagree with Target being on the list - they are the WORST if you don't have a receipt and paid cash! I usually try to avoid shopping there just for this reason.

ABSOLUTELY AGREE WITH YOU. BOUGHT A BISSELL STEAM CLEANER, NEVER USED IT, BUT LOST RECEIPT. JACKASSES WOULD NOT ACCEPT IT.

This article is so helpful that I added it to my favorites. I'm so happy to know this kindof information because I'm a customer to all of these stores. Home Depot coupons are my summer fetish because along with their sales and fabulous merchandise. I spend more time enjoying all of our family vacations!

I believe Gap's new return policy is 30 days in store and 45 online.
  • Thanks Sue, we've updated this!
